Trail Tuesday - Beacon Fell

So this week for you I have another Trail Tuesday post. I really enjoy making these types of posts as mountain biking is one of my biggest hobbies. I go with a great group of guys who make the night even more fun. In this weeks instalment we headed up to Beacon Fell, somewhere I had never been riding before. I went up there with Rob, Dale, Bran, Eddie and Ste.

We started our ride in the car park with the first obstacle being a pretty gruelling climb, it served well as a good warm up for the night ahead. After our climb we headed to some corner that Rob, Dale and Bran had been riding the week before. There was only 3 corners but they're pretty big, deep and loose which means lots of fun! We session’d them for a good hour or so before moving on. Everyone got lots of runs in and some surprised themselves more than others.

From the corners we moved further into the forest to 2 very tight and fast lines. We had to dig them out slightly to mark them out and to build up some corners to get us in and out of the trees. We started on the first line which started with a pretty quick straight with a small jump, then goes into a right hander, then a left, then a SUPER tight right round a tree and into another straight with a gap off some tree roots before finishing in a more open part of the forest. The line is so much fun and would make a great dual line race track.

The second line we rode here was a just off to the right and consisted of a straight, shallow right/left chicane, into a sharp right to another right (which we built up into a pretty decent berm) then ended with a pretty good sized gap to finish off. We had to dig out a lot of this line, especially the corners and the jump but after a short while digging and shaping it was ready to ride. We rode this line until we lost all the light.

After we lost all the light, we packed up our things and headed back to the cars. We had to go up to the top path and back down the way we came, but where we started with the gruelling climb we finished with a fast open decent which finished the night off just right.
